CAYMAN THROUGH MY EYES - COMPETITION DESCRIPTION2015 Theme: "Concatenation: interconnected things or events"

In 2010, the Department of Tourism unveiled a campaign called 'Caymankind' to showcase the true spirit of the Cayman Islands. The campaign describes Cayman as 'more than a destination: it is a people, a place and an approach to life that are as unique as they are universal.' Students of the Cayman Islands are invited to submit a short film that tells an inspirational story based on the theme Concatenation: interconnected things or events. The video can be based on history, music, people or a story about an experience in Cayman. Videos must be filmed in and relate to the Cayman Islands. If highlighting an issue, film maker must present ways to address in a positive light.

THE COMPETITION:
Three categories: Ages 11-13; 14-16 and 17-19. Only the top 5 from each category will be selected to move on to the finals.

To be become a finalist in the competition, a student must first submit a 1 - 3 minute video. All eligible students should submit their entry form and work on DVD or MEMORY STICK to the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDoT), Government Administration Building, (www.caymanislands.ky).

To be eligible, you MUST register online by Tuesday 31 March 2015.

Once all entries are reviewed, a maximum of 15 students (5 from each age group) will be selected, based on their creativity and aptitude. The 15 students selected will attend a workshop on editing and script development workshops.

Upon completion of the workshop participants will be allotted two weeks to complete their final, edited film, which should be between 1 and 3 minutes. Students can either redo their initial submissions or develop a new piece to submit as their final submission. If necessary, assistance can be given in securing and scheduling editing time. Only completed (edited) videos will be eligible for entry.
